I think the author Raymond Carter used the quote “Get in, get out. Dont linger. Go on” to show us how a short story beginning is meant to be. The quote is telling us to make it short and snappy. To reel the reader in but not too spoil the story so the reader doesnt lose interest.
The thing that makes me want to read on is that he said the he wasnt a bad guy but who is calling him a bad guy and why, also the fact that he says hes being defensive is that people are attaking him in a verbal way and yet again we want to know who and why.
We find out that the narrator has a brother who had a girlfriend called Nilda. Story is about two brothers. The fact that it says this is how all these stories begin is because it says that his brother has had a lot of gfs.
Starts with question. Tells us the narrator has a brother. It tells us he did something questionable for his brother. It makes us read on because we want to know what the narrator did for his brother and why he did it. We also want to know how he did what he was going to do.
This did not go as expected.
Bye, ive done what ive come to do.

Story 1:Everyone in the office turned and stared.
This story opener gives us an image of everyone turning and looking at the figure who just enetered the room. This lerson can be important which is why they all turned and stared or it could be just a random person who walked by nd everyone was amused and wanted to see who it was. It could also have been a very pretty lady which is why they all turned. The reason this is a good story opener is because it makes the reader want to know why they all turned and stared because of the endless posibilities.
Story2: They turned and hurried down the stairs.
This just smells excitement. Already ee know that they are running away from something. Now we want to know what that something is. We also want to now where the ‘group’ is and why they are hurrying down the stairs.
Story3: It had to be done!
What had to be done?
Why did it have to be done?
How was it done?
O lord tpp many questions better read and find out.
